Lifelong Leader Tim Norwood Seeks District 30 Senate Seat
A Determined Youth Timothy Fields Norwood was born in Darlington on October 11, 1955. Active in the Boy Scouts of America from a very early age, Tim went on to eventually achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, a high honor in the nationwide scouting organization. Tim was brought up in the Darlington school district and attended Pate Elementary School, Brunson-Dargan Junior High School and St. John’s High School before finishing his high school education at the newly established Darlington Academy, from which he graduated in 1974. During Tim’s junior year, he served as student body vice president and earned his God & Country Award from the Boy Scouts of America. In his senior year, Tim was selected to serve as captain in both soccer and basketball while simultaneously serving as student body president. Tim’s high school teacher and athletics coach, Lincoln Privette, has lived in the Pee Dee all his life. Not only was he instrumental in Tim’s life when he was a teenager, the two also spent time together as homebuilders later in life. Lincoln remembers Tim as a strong student and outstanding athlete. “Tim Norwood is a fast learner and has no problem taking criticism,” Lincoln said. “When we started the basketball and soccer teams at Darlington Academy, we were starting new teams in a new school, and there was quite a long road to travel.” “Tim handled the transition well, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Tim is a winner. He doesn’t like to lose,” he continued. “Tim Norwood has been a leader all of his life,” Lincoln said. During Tim’s last years of high school, he served as president of the Methodist Youth Fellowship at Trinity Methodist Church, of which he was an active member while he lived in Darlington. He also served as chairman on the Council of Youth Ministries and was a member of the Youth Representative of Administrative Board. “Tim is a solidly religious person and a good family man,” said Tim’s father-in-law, Tommy Walker, a lifelong Marion County resident. “The biggest thing he has brought to our family is his spiritual leadership. Tim encompasses all the things that make up a good father.” “Not only is he a great dad to his son, Fields, Tim is also very compassionate and helpful to his stepson, Eric, and he helps Eric further his education and mold him as a young adult.” Tim Norwood’s Employment Experience "Vice President Sales ADP Tax Credit Services...
